Remembering Sadie
It has been a VERY difficult few days and I’m confident there is MORE to come.
The photo is of a heart I had painted on the street – in remembrance of where Sadie was hit. I digitally placed Sadie onto this photo.
Here is what we believed to have happened.
I had just let Buckles and Sadie outside into the yard. My yard is enclosed by a 6 foot high fence. Every time Sadie was let out into the backyard she would stalk the wood pile looking for the chipmunk that lives within it. Considering Sadie LOVED to chase, we believe she saw the chipmunk and went after it chasing it over the wood pile stacked along the fence – climbing up on the wood and over the fence.
Sadie was not one to roam from the yard, I’m sure as soon as she realized she was not in the yard, she went over to the gate waiting for me to let her in. However, I was not aware she wasn’t in the yard. I’m sure it was only a matter of minutes until a squirrel or bunny caught her attention and she was off on another chase. Unfortunately, this chase led her into a very busy street. And, then everything happened so quickly – thank God she did not suffer!
Sadie was so happy, full of life, love and energy – we will FOREVER miss this beautiful girl!!
