Olive Kitteridge
Tom Hanks produced a HBO mini series staring Frances McDormand & Richard Jenkins in the life of Olive Kitteridge.
I really enjoyed the story and of course the impeccable acting (recently nominated for best actor and actress and mini series)
The writer did a fantastic job on expressing the dynamics of different personalities and internal struggles within a family, and more importantly how they effect us and the people around us.
A lot of people struggle with issues like this over the Holidays – considering they feel they must endure spending time with their own family – initiating those compressed memories that are not always positive.
Unfortunately, it is human nature for us all to take things that have happened to us so personally – specially when a parent for whatever reason was never able to get a handle on their own internal emotional struggles – causing them to periodically lash or act out on everyone around them, without truly realizing how this does or will effect everyone.
This show is not depressing by any means – to the contrary, they truly provide a perspective allowing U to understand everyone’s involvement, which I believe could be very helpful, specially if U feel U have similar struggles within your own family. Very enlightening!!
At one point in the show, I noticed the boulder out in front of their house, was shaped like a heart.
Like in every family, there may be unintentional misunderstood behavior – however, if the home/family is truly built on a foundation of love – we can all remain hopeful everyone will one day find their internal happiness.
