Love doing my own stunts!
This photo was taken Memorial Weekend 2015 – was visiting Maria in Arizona. During a morning hike in the mountain hills, we came across this sign and of course, I immediately noticed the heart in the damaged wheel.
However, at that very moment I also had to laugh.
Ever since my kids were little I would tell them far fetched stories, like… when I was doing some modeling before they were born (which was true), and how fortunate to be chosen for the job to pose as the outline shadow of all the different positions for them to produce pedestrian, traffic and even construction signs. Like the “construction guy (w/helmet) and his hand out to slow down” or the original crosswalk electrical signs “the green and red, walk and don’t walk pose” – until they changed and went with just “my hand in red” for the sign of don’t walk. And, there were even more dangerous poses – where I had told them I had to do my own stunts like “slippery – wet floor” that is where U find me off my feet and ready to hit the ground on my back.
As U might be aware there are 1000,’s of these poses/signs. We spent many years pointing them out, with me always creating and sharing my story behind the specific new found pose.
In saying all that, the reason I laughed when I first saw this sign is; I thought, “this sign is proof”- if needed, all the stories of me posing are real. It cant just be strange coincidence, that when “I” had to purposely crash the bike to demonstrate how dangerous it would be to fly off a bridge – that only “my” tire rim would bend into the shape of a heart. We all know, that would only happen to me.
Also, I would like to point out how daring I was back in the day – did U notice, I’m not even wearing a helmet. No wonder why I didn’t recall this pose until I seen it in use, on this day.
I love to live the stories I told my kids to assure we were always having fun!
