I Heart Claudia
As I was looking thru family photos for heart pictures for the site – came across this photo Brett took of my birthday trip to Chicago with our beautiful friend Claudia whom we lost this past January. WE MISS U & LUV U WITH ALL OUR HEARTS!!!!
Notice the heart between Claudia and I on the bag! Like so many of the hearts throughout our home, Claudia is the reason their there.
She was the most generous, and loving special friend; always thinking of Savannah, Brett and I. Constantly, showering us with unexpected gifts and gestures, especially heart-shaped. Everything she did was always done with class – this was just her style.
Claudia Borgulya was born and raised in Munich, Germany. When I met Claudia she had just arrived in Minneapolis – her goal, which she achieved a few years later in NY, was to pass the bar here in the States. Prior to this, Claudia was practicing law in Europe for a high-end German fashion designer.
The real reason I believe Claudia came to the U.S was to enhance and change my life – which she did, personally and professionally! Personally, she became a big part of my family’s lives. Professionally, she became my European Queen of Rubba Ducks.
After sharing our Rubba Ducks with Claudia, she quickly fell in love with them all and went into action. Keep in mind, Claudia was also attending law school here – she was always successfully multi tasking.
A few short months later, Claudia introduced the Rubba Ducks to the European Market at the 2003 Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. To-date, Ducktoberfest that was specially designed and licensed for the event, has become their most-recognized souvenir ever. Claudia made sure all the attention and interest Rubba Ducks received spread quickly throughout all the surrounding European countries.
By the following year, Claudia’s hard work paid off, her efforts directly resulted in making our Rubba Ducks brand the world’s premiere rubber duck collectible.
The thought of her not breathing air in this world saddens me beyond words. My only comfort with this abysmal loss; confidently knowing as my guardian angel, Claudia will not let anything get by me, ever.
