A hidden heart

Last Fall, Leo and I were out for a walk when we came across this tree.  We must have walked down this block and past this tree, a thousand times over the past 9 years.  Not once, did I ever see this heart at the bottom of the trunk.

I believe it went unseen, considering it is positioned on the opposite side of the tree, from the direction we would always walk.

The reason I noticed it on this day…  Leo wouldn’t move and was too busy sniffing the grass in front of the tree/heart.  This provoked me to stop and turn around, to see why he wasn’t keeping up with the pace – that is when I noticed the heart.

I scratched his head telling him he was a good boy.  Then as I pulled my phone out and positioned it to take the pic, Leo moved out from in front of the heart and sat on the sidewalk.  When I said – I got it buddy – he got up, walked over to the tree/heart, looked directly at me and then peed on it and walked away.

I couldn’t help but laugh – telling him again, he was a good boy!
