Birthday Boy!!
Buckles turned 13 today!!!
I took this picture of Bucky yesterday laying next to the heart rock I saw laying next to him on the ground (below his front right paw). However, when posting the photo I noticed there is a heart shape on his ear within his fur – VERY COOL!!! – A birthday treat for me!!
A little background story on the Birthday Boy…
Ron Schara a local celebrity has a TV show on the NBC affiliate, KARE 11 called Minnesota Bound. Now Ron may have a very successful show, but the real star of this show is his loyal companion, Raven.
Ron and I met because of these kid’s clinics he puts on at the fishing and boating shows where I have donated my kid’s books and other products for him to hand out as prizes.
I remember the day Savannah, and I stopped by Ron’s office to drop off some Rubba Ducks for an upcoming clinic. Ron was thanking us and had mentioned Raven was pregnant, and asked if we were interested in one of her puppies. Before I could even gather a thought or a response, Savannah answered, “Yes!! Of course, we would love a puppy!!!”
He said, “U can have one of the male puppies under one condition, when he is six months old U send him away for a two-month program to have him trained correctly” (obedience) – apparently that is what he did with Raven. Savannah quickly responded, “We will – Thank U, Thank U!”
As we left and Savannah was floating to the car, she was rattling off names. At one point, jokingly I said what do U think of “Bucknaked” Savannah quickly responded “NO WAY!, how about Buckles!”
Buckles was born on June 1, 2000 and as promised, six months later we sent him away for two months. I cannot begin to tell U of the difference this training made with him. It was truly unbelievable! I highly recommend this to everyone. It was a little expensive, however I cannot begin to tell U how much more enjoyable and pleasurable it has been over the past 13 years.
Buckles’ mom may be famous for being on TV, but Buckles has become famous throughout our neighborhood for being such a good boy!
When we are out for walks Buckles doesn’t use a leash. Rest assured no friendly dog would deter him from his mission to smell and make his mark when walking. He will not even cross the street, at least not before looking both ways – I kid U not. Everyone says, “He is such a good boy!”
We even gave him a theme song: “Buckles is a good boy, good boy, good boy – Buckles is a good boy yeah!”
However, today since it is his Birthday we sing: “Buckles is the birthday, birthday, birthday – Buckles is the birthday boy!”
Happy Birthday Buddy!! I AM SO FORTUNATE to have such a smart and loyal best friend like U!!!
