Bono – “I believe in U” Heart
This picture was taken in 2006. I was watching the release of U2’s new music video Elevation. For those who do not recall the video, it involves footage from the Lara Croft, Tomb Raider movie.
About half way into the video there is an explosion that takes place in the background and, pieces of the buildings and cars are flying across the screen while Bono is singing the words, “why don’t U tell me something true, I believe in U” and as he starts to say the words “I believe” (2:31) U will notice a piece of metal flying across the front of his face and as he says “believe” it is directly on his chin. This piece of metal is perfectly shaped as a heart.
At the time, it happened so fast, I wasn’t sure what I had seen was real or if I just wanted to think it was shaped as a heart. I do remember thinking how lucky I was to have a DVR, and I was able to rewind it so I could take a photo of it to document what I had seen. Of course, I had no idea one day there would be a website called YouTube and this video would be so easily accessible to everyone.
Regardless, I’ll be honest, the moment this happened, I thought I was so cool for spotting this little piece of metal as it flew across the screen and couldn’t wait to show everyone this photo – as proof it happened and that I caught it. I agree this does sound a little silly now, but I wasn’t as experienced with these remarkable heart finds as I am now.
Obviously, I would like to think that this heart shaped piece of metal flying across the screen at this particular moment when he sings “I believe in U” was not planned and was just a another fantastic seeing hearts coincidence. However, until we get Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton or Larry Mullen Jr. to verify this, the answer will remain in my favor “another fantastic seeing hearts coincidence”.
